Dear Oakley Parents and Guardians
Last weekend staff and Cadets helped at the Bromsgrove, Bloodwise 10k/5k races. They helped with parking, giving out medals and water, as well as cheering people over the finish line. I am really proud of our Oakley girls’ CCF involvement: Emily, Lacey, Ava and Kerron.
Our Junior House Debaters had a really challenging motion this year: This house regrets the depiction of good vs. evil in children’s entertainment. But our team, Anoushka, Sophie and Heily were superb opponents. Anoushka was commended by the judges for her teamwork and support of others.
And just before they went on study leave, the Vth form enjoyed some friendly games of House Rounders:

In the midst of study leave and exam revision, it’s always nice to take a break and celebrate special occasions. Birthdays are a time for the girls to come together and it’s always lovely to see:

Boarders enjoyed an art evening on Friday:

U4 tutor Mrs Ellis-Breakwell organised a meal out for her tutor group in the week and it was fun to be off site for a while:

We were thrilled to see returning girls Lina and Molly who left us last year. They were back to support the Birmingham run but made time to visit us in House and catch up with old friends and staff:

And our Bulgarian girls raised the roof when their country won this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. It is always a tradition in Oakley to spend the evening supporting the various acts and healthy competition brings the house together:

Our Vth Form and Upper Sixth have really set the tone with their studious approach to study leave. Their focus and hard work has been exemplary and I am sure the rest of the House will follow their lead; by the end of this week, everyone will be in exams. We make sure the coffee machine is working, the snacks are available and Mrs Pugh’s fruit Friday went down a treat:

Wishing you all a good week and half term break.
Victoria Adams
